I did it... I big chopped!

My initial plan was to transition for 2 years. I got to15 months and just couldn't deal with the two textures any more. So this morning, I grabbed a pair of scissors, stood in front of my bathroom mirror and chopped off the relaxed hair! I am now fully natural and loving it... I think.

Check out this 'fro...

I am now working on a new power regimen because I need this hair to grow back... fast! I am super excited to be natural though. I have a nagging feeling that this is going to be fun!

  1. Congratulations on the big chop!

I totally #YOLOed and did the same some months ago. Embrace the short length and enjoy it while it lasts. I'm already dreading my hair growing longer.

    1. You are right about enjoying every stage. I haven't had hair this short in ages and its amazing how much easier it is to detangle. I'm definitely enjoy that! Your hair looks so good. That's a lot of hair girl.

  2. Your hair looks amazing! I feel terrible cause I had held out for 5 months but just this weekend I used a relaxer :(. I definitely got some length but my hair is just not full and I can't even do the hairstyles I would love because of that. Like a bob for instance. Please tell me, what protective styles are best when you desire more volume for your hair?

    1. Hi Ada, Lack of volume could be attributed to a number of things, it could just be that you are using products that are weighing your hair down. It could be that you just need a good layered cut, it could be the way you style your hair ,it could be damage. It's hard to tell without seeing your hair but the first thing you should try is washing with a good clarifying shampoo and setting with large rollers. Don't put any oils or grease in it because that would make the strands stick together and appear thin.

  7. Just curious - what was your deciding factor in going natural? You had long and what appeared to be healthy relaxed hair, so just curious why you decided to go natural?

  8. I'm also tired of two textures. cutting of the permed texture of my hair today! I'm not sure my natural hair is as long as yours though, but I like the afro and I hope mine look a bit like yours
